The Baltimore Federal Executive Board would like to welcome Colonel Jeremy Martin, Commandant, Defense Information School, as our newest member of the FEB Board of Directors!
Colonel Martin is a native of Louisiana and a Distinguished Military ROTC graduate of Grambling State University. Colonel Martin’s most recent assignment was as the Senior Military Assistant in the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. where he served as an advisor to the Assistant Secretary on major issues requiring policy determinations related to the department’s communications.
In that role he coordinated daily with the White House, Interagency, and the Military Service Public Affairs Chiefs on behalf of the Assistant Secretary and the Department of Defense.
His other assignments include Rifle and Scout Platoon Leader, 5th Infantry Division, Fort Polk, LA. Battalion Personnel Officer, 524th Military Intelligence Battalion, Yongsan, South Korea. Company Commander, Defense Language Institute, Monterey, California. Assistant Chief of Staff, G-2, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, La. Operations Officer, Joint Intelligence Center, United States Special Operations Command, Tampa, Fl. Battalion Executive Officer (Provisional) in the 500th Military Intelligence Brigade, Camp Zama, Japan. Spokesperson for the Secretary of the Army, Headquarters, U.S. Army, the Pentagon and Washington, D.C. Director of Public Affairs, Joint Task Force Guantanamo, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. DoD Press Officer and Public Affairs Advisor for the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Defense Press Operations, the Pentagon, and Washington, D.C. Additionally, Colonel Martin has provided PA support and counsel to senior Army and DoD leadership in combat theaters of operation, to include Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Colonel Martin holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Grambling State University, a Masters Degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University, and a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. His military education includes; graduation from the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Fort Benning, Ga., Military Intelligence Officer Advance Course, Fort Huachuca, Az., Command and General Staff Officers Course, Fort Leavenworth, Ks., Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Va., Defense Information School, Fort Meade, Md., and the United States Army War College, Carlisle, Pa.
His major awards and decorations include; Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal (4), Army Commendation Medal (3), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Service Unit Award, and the Army and OSD Staff Badges.
