Maryland Federal Workers honored for Excellence in Public Service

Baltimore – May 3, 2013, the Baltimore Federal Executive Board (FEB) conducted the 46th Excellence in Federal Career Awards Luncheon and Ceremony. This historic, regional, federal employee recognition program is in conjunction with Public Service Recognition Week (May 5 - 11) honoring and recognizing the accomplishments and outstanding job performance of Federal employees.   Nearly 600 Federal officials, employees and military service members, family members and guests from agencies throughout Maryland attended this prestigious event.

The event, hosted by the Chair of the Baltimore Federal Executive Board, Dr. Reginald F. Wells, Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources for the Social Security Administration, was held at Martin’s West in Baltimore and featured the Baltimore Area U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard.  Maryland Senator’s Barbara A. Mikulski and Benjamin L. Cardin and Representative Elijah E. Cummings presented letters of recognition to the Gold and Silver award winners.

“Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for excellence in job performance during 2012 were presented to 381 Maryland federal employees, project teams and military service members in twenty different award categories, said Richard H. Howell, the Baltimore Federal Executive Board Executive Director”.  Award nominations were submitted to the FEB for review last January with  the award selections being made later that month.

“The role of the 28 Federal Executive Board National Network for the last 52 years has been to create value to the public by fostering collaboration, communication, and coordination among Federal, State and local government agencies” Howell said. “FEBs coordinate emergency preparedness and homeland security training and exercises, human capital readiness and leadership training and conduct special emphasis and community outreach programs throughout the year”. “We are indeed proud of all our Maryland based federal employees.”
